Minimalist skincare.
Three products, used consistently, outperform almost every ten-step stack. The point isn't austerity — it's diagnostic clarity.
The core three
- Cleanser. Gentle, fragrance-free, non-foaming for most skin types. Twice a day, max.
- Moisturizer. Barrier-supporting — ceramides, glycerin, squalane. Boring beats clever.
- SPF. Daily, every day, indoors and out. The single largest variable in how skin ages.
What to remove first
- Every fragranced product touching the face.
- Foaming cleansers that leave skin tight.
- Stacked actives — multiple acids, retinoids, and vitamin C running at once.
- Anything trending under 24 months old.
Add an active only with a reason
One active, one problem, one timeline. Retinoid for texture and long-term aging. Azelaic acid for redness. Salicylic for congestion. Never two new actives at once — you'll have no idea which one helped or harmed.
The boring variables that beat products
- Sleep. Eight hours. Same window.
- Water. Not extreme — just consistent.
- Sunlight in the morning, SPF the rest of the day.
- Pillowcase changed weekly. Cotton or silk.
- Hands off the face.
Minimalist skincare isn't anti-product. It's anti-noise. Fewer variables, clearer signal, better skin — quietly, over years.
