How to looksmax — the minimalist way.
The default internet playbook adds. We subtract. Here's how to looksmax without buying anything new for a month.
Why most routines fail
A typical "how to looksmax" guide lists 20–40 steps. Twelve serums, six supplements, four hair tools, three jaw devices. The result: skin barrier wrecked, attention scattered, no idea what's actually working.
You don't need more inputs. You need fewer, better ones — the same logic behind a minimalist skincare routine that outperforms most ten-step stacks.
The Maxxmalist sequence
- Remove — strip everything that touches your body daily. Soap, shampoo, fragrance, fabric, foods, content.
- Reduce — re-introduce only what you'd defend in writing.
- Replace — swap the survivors for higher-quality versions, one category at a time.
- Refine — repeat the cycle every quarter.
The six daily-contact categories
These are the only six surfaces that compound. Most "looksmaxxing" content is noise outside this list. Wardrobe sits in the same subtraction frame — see the minimalist wardrobe for men.
- Skin — what touches your face daily. Cleanser, moisturizer, SPF. Three items, not thirteen.
- Hair — shampoo and one tool. That's the loop.
- Water — drinking and bathing. Filter both if you can.
- Fabric — what touches your skin 16 hours a day. Cotton, linen, wool. No synthetics next to skin.
- Light — morning sun on your face. Evening dimness. Free, and nothing else compares.
- Sleep — eight hours, cool room, dark room, same schedule. The single largest looks variable.
A 7-day starter protocol
- Day 1 — Audit your bathroom. Photograph every product. Half will not be there in a week.
- Day 2 — Remove fragrance from soap, lotion, laundry. One source of fragrance maximum.
- Day 3 — Walk outside within 30 minutes of waking, no sunglasses, for 10 minutes.
- Day 4 — Set a fixed sleep window. Same bedtime, same wake time, all seven days.
- Day 5 — Replace synthetic underwear and bedding with cotton.
- Day 6 — Train for 30 minutes. Walk, lift, swim. Anything that loads the body.
- Day 7 — Re-photograph the bathroom. Write down what you actually used this week. That's your routine.
What we deliberately don't recommend
- Mewing as a face-shape strategy. Posture matters; the rest is unproven.
- Bone smashing. Don't.
- Multi-step Korean routines if you have no skin complaint.
- Supplement stacks beyond vitamin D, creatine, and protein.
Looksmaxxing is not a shopping list. It's a subtraction practice with two or three real upgrades on the other side. For the full 30-day version across body, wardrobe, and attention, read how to be a minimalist.
